M∙A∙C Me Over 2011

Blending, blending, blending… if you were to ask me what is one of the most important tips for a good make-up application, it’s got to be blending–it can be blending with sponges, your fingers, or with brushes. With proper blending tools and techniques, it makes your make-up work impeccable.

If you have seen my make-up kit & brush belt, you will know the majority of my make-up brushes are from M∙A∙C Cosmetics because it’s great quality, and it does offer a wide range of awesome & professional brushes for different features of the face, including some of my favourite blending brushes, such as:

  • #224 Tapered Blending Brush: also know was the Windshield Wiper Brush by many make-up artists because it blends like the windshield wipers’ motion. It’s made of soft natural fibre, great for larger eye crease blending, highlighting, and/or concealer blending. This brush is one of the must-have’s for creating a smokey eye… it makes blending in the crease effortlessly.
  • #217 Blending Brush: great for crease blending work, but also great for cream/liquid concealer application as its natural fibres are a bit firmer than the #244 brush. It is another great blending brush for the crease as well.

To add a new favorite to my eye shadow blending brush collection, there is the new #226 Small Tapered Blending Brush. It’s actually not brand new because first launched as a limited-edition brush from M∙A∙C’s “Brunette, Blonde, Redhead” Collection in 2008. Now, it’s being re-launched again with M∙A∙C Me Over Collection! However, I have heard only selected M∙A∙C stores will be carrying this brush, and it’s going to be sold out fast.

Why is #226 Small Tapered Blending Brush is my new favorite? Because it’s slightly smaller and more pointy at the tip compare to the #224 blending brush, therefore it gives a more precious application in blending for smaller sized eye lids; it’s also great for someone who has droopy (or hooded) eyelids. I find this brush to be a great use as a smokey eye blending brush for the bottom eyes to give a diffused edge blending.

In a way, it’s like an in-between brush of #224 Blending Brush and #219 Pencil Brush, which I mostly use as an inner & bottom eye shadow brush, eyeliner smudging brush, and/or a lipstick color brush.

#226 Small Tapered Blending Brush has been widely talked about by a lot of make-up artists and online beauty bloggers, and so far, I haven’t found blending brushes that is very close to this one from any other cosmetics brands. If you have one of this blending brush, please let me know how you like using it, and we can all share tips & tricks!
