If you know me in person, you would know that I love & enjoy travelling a lot! If there are lots of money & leisure time in life, I would absolutely LOVE to travel around the world, taste all the delicious food, visit cultures of all kinds and spend the best & romantic time at the most beautiful resorts & high-end hotels… can dreams turn into reality?

The Maldives is the quintessential honeymoon destination and one of its most romantic resorts is Cocoa Island by Como. Residents at one of its 33 overwater suites can slip directly from their room into the turquoise lagoon beneath them. An excellent spa and restaurants are on site to lure couples from their rooms.

The Maldives is another destination perennially popular with couples, and honeymooners in particular. Angsana Ihuru is one of the resorts here that specialises in romantic encounters, with its 45 villas close to the beach and a house reef where snorkelling is on offer.

Built into a hillside facing the Pitons in St Lucia, Jade Mountain is a popular destination for honeymoons and babymoons. Every room – or sanctuary – is without a fourth wall to allow for uninterrupted views; private infinity pools in the villas mean it’s rarely necessary to leave your accommodation.

Admittedly not recommended if you’re looking for somewhere discreet, Atlantis, The Palm in Dubai nonetheless has a lot to offer couples – reliable hot weather for starters. Rooms overlook the Arabian Sea or the Palm and Dubai skyline; the extensive ShuiQi spa contains 27 treatment rooms and the Lost Chambers Aquarium is on site. Dining options include the glass-walled Ossiano restaurant which faces the sea creatures resident in The Ambassador lagoon and the Royal Beach, where couples can dine under a private cabana.

Brazil has a justified reputation as an exciting holiday destination; Ponta dos Ganchos Resort is one of the glamorous accommodation options available on its Emerald Coast. Popular with honeymooners, it comprises 25 private bungalows decorated in a rustic-chic style, many of which have in-rrom saunas, outdoor Jacuzzis and plunge pools.

Paperbark Camp in Jervis Bay is an Australian take on the luxury African camp. The main draw is the location – the camp is located in the lulsh Shoalhaven region two hours’ drive from Sydney – but the accommodation makes its mark too. Guests stay in one of 12 luxury safari tents, some of which include freestanding baths with views of the surrounding wilderness. Weddings can be held on site.

The couple in the photo seem to be keeping their distance from each other but Bauers Il Palazzo is generally considered one of the most romantic hotels in Venice. A two-minute walk from St Mark’s Square, the refined property is traditionally decorated and enduringly stylish. Its restaurat De Pisis is particulary popular due to the terrace seating it offers along the Grand Canal.

An option for couples who aren’t taken by the flowers-and-chocolates school of romantic gestures, Inkaterra’s Canopy Tree House provides rugged isolation in the Peruvian South Eastern Amazon. Built on a private platform 90ft above the ground, the tree house provides views of wild animals not usually seen from below.

Bushmans Kloof Wilderness Retreat and Wellness Reserve pretty much explains its raison d’etre through its name. In any case, the South African property – 270km from Cape Town – is a popular spot for anyone looking to get away from it all. There are only 16 rooms and suites and couples are encouraged to get back to nature on drives, walks, tours of local rock art sites and stargazing.

Nkwichi Lodge by Lake Malawi has ramped up the romance factor with the recent release of its ‘Lake of Stars Bed’ experience. Set on a private rock island removed from the main lodge and accessed by boat, the bed for two direclty overlooks the lake and has clear views of the skies above.

Il Salviantino in Florence is a 15th-century villa that exudes good taste. Overnighting in the Melodia Suite, shown here, is a popular option for couples, who are drawn to its original features, homely interior, vast bathroom and central fireplace.

Kasbah Tamadot is well-located whatever type of romantic holiday you’re after. At the foothills of Morocco’s Atlas Mountains it’s far removed from crowds and noise but – should you miss them – Marrakech is a 45-minute drive away. The most romantic rooms are the nine Berber tented suites, which each include a king-sized bed, large soaking tubs with mountain views, a terrace with private plunge pool and outdoor dining area.

Maia Luxury Resort and Spa in the Seychelles is built around romance. A popular honeymoon destination, the property provides couples with plenty of opportunity to relax and re-engage. Meditation and yoga classes take place at Maia throughout the year, couples massages are a speciality and it also provides tailored wedding packages.

It’s compulsory for travel journalists to include Paris in any romance-related round-ups, so here it is. Anyone staying at the Eiffel Suite of the Hôtel Plaza Athénée have an impressive reminder of their stay in the French capital courtesy of this spectacular view of the Eiffel Tower.

Another hotel distinguished by its dramatic setting, Biras Creek is set on a peninsula in the British Virgin Islands and has views over three bodies of water: the North Sound, the Caribbean and the Atlantic. Couples reach the property by boat or helicopter where they’ll stay in one of just 31 suites. For added privacy it’s possible to borrow one of the resort’s Boston Whaler boats to picni on deserted beaches nearby.

Winter stays at the Iso-Syöte Hotel in Finnish Lapland are conducive to romance for a number of reasons, particularly if you stay at the newly opened ‘Eagles View’ suite shown here. Split across two floors, the suite has its own fireplace, Jacuzzi and private sauna, while the branches of a tree embedded in the room support the upper floor. The bed is circular, allowing 360 degree views of the surrounding Syote National Park through the glass walls and, if you’re lucky, the Northern Lights through the glass roof. Packages to stay in the suite are available through

Malaysia’s Pangkor Laut Resort lies on its own private island and is surrounded by a two-million-year-old jungle. Guests stay here can reside either in a stilted spa villa that overlooks the sea, or in a hideaway villa encased by jungle foliage. Privacy is assured either way and parts of the island are for adults only, to ensure extra peace and quiet.

It’s the property’s dramatic location that sets Hotel Timeo apart. The white building with green shutters directly beneath the Greek Theatre in this picture, the Sicilian hotel overlooks Mount Etna. Locals may be blasé about the still-active volcano’s occasional minor eruptions but, should one take place during your stay, the flow of molten lava in the distance makes a sensational romantic backdrop.
