When the collaboration between Alber Elbaz (Lanvin Artistic Director) and Lancôme was announced in January, the beauty world went beyond a state of mere frenzy—it entered into a realm of full-on delirium. Legions of beauty buffs collectively waited with baited breath for complete details on the limited-edition collection, and now we can reveal all the fine points of the entire eye-opening line.

Elbaz is known for his whimsical designs and charming illustrations that both illicit a dash of wit and humor. For this line, he combines his distinctive aesthetic to dress Lancôme’s most popular eye essentials in collectable couture outfits. Each product in the Lancôme Show by Alber Elbaz collection is cloaked in an exclusive Elbaz creation that features either doodles of red hearts, blue stars, pink dots, or green eyes.

“…Alber Elbaz has a gift for revealing a woman’s personality. In his words, he veils the body to unveil the woman,” said Lancôme President Youcef S. Nabi. “More importantly still, he believes in luxury that triggers joy. …Thus, for the very first time, Alber Elbaz has transposed his equation for joyful luxury to the world of makeup and has redressed Lancôme’s four iconic bestselling mascaras [and eye shadows] for the summer.”In an explanation of why he decided to focus solely on eyes for this collection, Elbaz told WWD, “Once I was in a fancy place where there was this group of people that were all shining. The shoes were shining, the hair was shining, the skin, watches and diamonds—but the eyes were not shining. I thought if I were to do a project I would love to do a ‘happy eye’ project to make the eyes shine.”

The nine-piece line includes Hypnose Doll Lashes, Hypnose Drama, Definicils, and Hypnose Star mascaras ($29 each), and four shades of the brand’s Color Design 5 Shadow & Liner Palette in Rose Coquette, Taupe Craze, Mint Jolie, and Midnight Rush ($51 each). The collection also features Lancôme’s first-ever foray into false eyelashes ($35). It all hits makeup counters and the web on June 15, with the false lashes exclusively sold at Nordstrom.
