2015 Met Gala

(China: Through the Looking Glass)」,現在就來看看眾女星們如何演繹令人眼睛一亮的中國風吧!
 ·

Bee Shaffer

Anne Hathaway

Lady Gaga

How to Recreate the Beauty Trends from the Golden Globes at Home

16 Jan
Golden Globes Awards 2013

Golden Globes Awards 2013

·

We’ve already thoroughly analyzed the Golden Globes red carpet, from the fashion trends to the best and worst dressed. But let’s not forget about what was happening above the neck. The beauty last night, much like the fashion, was pretty but a bit uninspired. However, the good news is that most of it was incredibly wearable for real life people.

It was an especially big night for hair at the Golden Globes yesterday–waves, updos, and a bit of weirdness ruled the day. As far as makeup, smoky eyes and graphic eyeliner were pretty ubiquitous as per usual, and lipstick and nail polish skewed neutral and natural.

Here are the top six beauty trends from the 70th Golden Globes, as well as advice on how to recreate the looks if you’re so inclined.

·

Straight Middle Parts

Marion Cotillard, Stacy Keibler, Sofia Vergara

Taking a cue from the Spring 2013 runways, some ladies decided to do their hair straight and sleek. Very Gwyneth Paltrow and Jennifer Aniston in the early aughts, no?

How-To: Sofia Vergara’s hair stylist Jen Atkin told PeopleStyleWatch that she blew it straight with a Mason Pearson brush, flat ironed the ends only, then spritzed on a shine spray and hair spray. (I’m sure everyone crossed their fingers that it wouldn’t be humid or damp, too.)

·

Sleek, Traditional Updos

Emily Blunt, Julianne Moore, Zosia Mamet

After many seasons of messy side buns or super tall top knots, slowly but surely more traditional styles have been showing up back on the runway. The fact that women from two different generations (Julianne Moore and Zosia Mamet) went for classics like simple chignons and French twists just goes to prove how, well, classic they are.

How-To: Chris McMillan (Jennifer Aniston’s stylist and newly minted Living Proof Hairstylist) did Moore’s 60s-esque updo–he was inspired by Hitchcock heroines.

After applying Living Proof Prime Style Extender and styling spray, McMillan dried her hair straight with a round brush. He made a deep side part and pulled it back into an uneven French twist. He secured it with pins and finished it off with hairspray. (I recommend getting a friend to help you, although the Rockettes all do their own French twists, so it’s definitely do-able.)

No Makeup Makeup

Kristen Bell, Anne Hathaway, Amanda Seyfried, Sienna Miller

Most actresses usually go for the gusto with makeup for big award nights–eyeliner, lipstick, smoky eyes, false lashes. But many bucked the trend and went au natural–another nod to Spring 2013 runways. Giuliana Rancic even mentioned on-camera to Sienna Miller that it looked like she was wearing hardly any makeup.

How-To: Despite appearances, it actually takes a lot of makeup to look this natural. Amanda Seyfried, the face of Clé de Peau Beauté, needed 10 products to get her glowy look. We’re particularly partial to Anne Hathaway’s look, which makeup artist Kate Lee achieved with all Chanel (goes nicely with the Chanel dress). She told Allure that she used a makeup base followed by two different foundations. She used a Kevin Aucoin highlighting powder, then topped it off with a pale peach blush. She used a soft wash of grey lilac eyeshadow, no liner, then curled lashes and added mascara. No lipstick.

·

Old Hollywood Waves

Jessica Alba, Heidi Klum, Megan Fox, Jennifer Lopez

OK, we’re tired of this look, we admit. However, we’ll also admit that it is very beautiful. I guess if it ain’t broke…

How-To: Lorenzo Martin, J.Lo’s hair stylist, used L’Oreal Paris Advanced Haircare Triple Resist Ultimate Strength Solution and then added a holding cream gel before curling. He used a 1-inch barrel curling iron and spritzed beach spray onto each section. After making each curl he pinned it to her head and moved onto the next one. He spritzed Elnett over all the pin curls and let it sit for 15 minutes. He brushed the curls out with a medium round brush, then pinned it back in a side part and sprayed hairspray again.

·

Slick Hair

Taylor Swift, Christian Bale, Jessica Chastain

The last several seasons, we’ve seen a whole lotta wet hair walk down runways. It’s popping up on red carpets too, which means that people may start trying it in real life. Agh! While Christian Bale’s locks were glistening on our HD TV, at least Taylor Swift and Jessica Chastain just gave the illusion that their hair was really slick.

How-To: Stylist Renato Campora used a combo of serum and creamy mousse to slick back Jessica Chastain’s hair after curling and brushing it out. (We have no idea what Christian Bale used.)

·

One-Offs

Nicole Richie, Adele, Claire Danes, Lucy Liu

Nicole Richie, Adele, Claire Danes, Lucy Liu

While not trending, we think these four ladies deserve honorable mention for their unique looks.

Nicole Richie: Not only did she take the blue eye makeup look that was everywhere on the spring 2013 runways, she matched it to her dress. Ballsy. (It’s Elizabeth Arden eye shadow in “Sky.”)

Adele: Amidst a sea of reds and neutrals, Adele went with orange sparkles and isn’t giving up talons just yet. (It’s Sally Hansen “So Much Fawn” topped with two coats of “Copper Penny” with a custom made topcoat containing gold to finish it off.)

Claire Danes: She wins “Best Hair” at the Golden Globes. According to me. (Hair by John Frieda.)

Lucy Liu: This is a lot of braid. Reactions have been mixed online. We respect her chutzpah in choosing an over-the-top dress and hair style.
