Miss Universe is the most prestigious and largest beauty pageant in the world. Ever since it started (1952), it has many positive response of many countries battling out to win the crown of Miss Universe. Up to date, Venezuela has the most number of winners with 10 wins & USA is close 2nd with 9 wins. However, in this article I am going to dedicate it to all the glories Asian women who have made not only their own countries proud but also the whole of Asia known as an Exotic Beauty Land.

The very first Asian woman to win the Miss Universe title was Akiko Kojima from the land of sunrise JAPAN in 1959! She charmed the judges with her Eastern grace and elegance. It took them 48 years to get their second Miss Universe crown, which went to Riyo Mori in 2007, the woman who won the audiences’ hearts with her sweet and pure answer.

THAILAND

Miss Universe of Thailand

The land of Smile – THAILAND is the first South East Asian nation to win the Miss Universe crown by the petite & soft beauty – Apasra Hongsakula in 1965. It took Thailand 23 years to achieve there second and so far their last Miss Universe crown in 1988, which went to Porntip Narkhirunkanok.

Miss Universe from the Philippines

The nation of the PHILIPPINES is a world renowned Pageant Power House when it comes to beauty pageant. And all of these modern beauty queens should thank to the woman who brought the glory of the very first Miss Universe crown to her country back in 1969, she is Gloria Diaz who is still as sophisticated, as she was when she first won the crown. Philippines have the most number of Asian Miss Universe winners with Maria Margarita Roxas Moran who won the title in 1973, and the recent 2015 Miss Universe crown making it the 3rd win by Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach for the Philippines.

Love is the essence of life – is the slogan of India’s first Miss Universe, Sushmita Sen who won in 1994. She truly showed the world the intelligence and witness of an Indian beauty. It took India, just 6 years until they got their very second winner, Lara Dutta who got the highest score in the Top 5 interview round.

Miss Universe 2015: Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach (Philippines) │ 2015環球小姐由菲律賓小姐摘冠

On December 20, 2015, Miss Universe host Steve Harvey made a major slip at the crowning moment of the ceremony held at Planet Hollywood Resort in Las Vegas. The host announced Miss Colombia Ariadna Gutierrez as the winner of the pageant.

Gutierrez was wearing the pageant crown when Harvey returned to the stage to apologize, as the real winner was Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach of Philippines. He said: “I will take responsibility. It was my mistake … Please don’t hold it against the ladies.”

Despite the awkward crowning moment made by the host, Miss Philippines took the crown to be the 64th Miss Universe winner, also the third Filipino title holder (previously 1969, 1973) of the most celebrated beauty pageants in the globe.

During the final question round when asked why she wanted to be Miss Universe, Wurtzbach replied that, “I will use my voice to influence the youth and I would raise awareness to certain causes like HIV awareness that is timely and relevant to my country.”

“I want to show the world, the universe rather, that I am confidently beautiful with a heart,” she said. Congratulations to Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach for the title, and an exciting journey of a lifetime!

This is the very first MU pageant hosted after Donald Trump sold the Miss Universe Organization (also includes Miss USA and Miss Teen USA pageant groups) to the agency WME/IMG in September 2015. Post the event, the U.S. President candidate Trump wrote on Twitter:

“Very sad what happened last night at the Miss Universe Pageant. I sold it 6 months ago for a record price. This would never have happened!”

Meet Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach!

  Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach is a Filipino-German actress, model and beauty pageant titleholder. She is the Philippine representative for the 2015 Miss Universe Pageant. Pia was born in Stuttgart, Germany and grew up in Cagayan de Oro, Philippines. She has one sister who is two years younger than her. Pia finished her secondary education with the ABS-CBN Distance Learning Center and studied culinary arts at the Center for Asian Culinary Studies in Metro Manila, Philippines. She worked as a cosmetics model. At the age of 11, under the screen name Pia Romero, she worked as an actress. Pia is currently a stylist and writer for the lifestyle section of a leading newspaper in the Philippines.

哥倫比亞小姐阿雷巴洛廿日只戴了兩分鐘「環球小姐」后冠，她在拉斯維加斯的決賽主持人宣布她封后，激動地被加冕，並向全場獻飛吻後，又聽到主持人鄭重道歉，宣布她是第二名，今年環球小姐是菲律賓小姐伍茲巴赫，接著阿雷巴洛被摘下后冠，大會重新為伍茲巴赫加冕。

推特用戶對這個錯誤感到不可置信，「＃二○一五年環球小姐」（#MissUniverse）成為當晚最熱門的推特主題標籤 。哥倫比亞總統桑托斯被迫修改他的恭賀推文。他在宣布哥倫比亞小姐封后後推文：「哥倫比亞人，世界最美的女人。」之後改成：「妳仍是我們心目中的環球小姐。」

哈維事後推文道歉，但起先還把兩位佳麗的國名拼錯，後來才更正。他說：「我要誠心向哥倫比亞小姐和菲律賓小姐道歉，我犯了天大錯誤，感覺糟透了。」這段道歉推文被轉傳了逾七萬次。

第一次主持環球小姐選美的哈維說，他把卡片再看一遍，發現錯誤，再去問製作人。主辦單位也說，哈維主動改正錯誤。

哥倫比亞小姐阿雷巴洛在後台對粉絲說：「每件事都有理由，我為自己的表現高興。」

菲律賓小姐伍茲巴赫說：「我很難過，不是我拿走她的后冠，我祝福她。」

臉書用戶也在環球小姐官方專頁貼文。克立夫說：「處理得糟透了。兩名佳麗都應獲得道歉，兩人都很尷尬。我能感受她們的痛苦。」這則貼文被分享六萬兩千多次，並獲一萬七千多則留言。

菲律賓粉絲也表達不滿。有人貼文說：「我們菲律賓小姐失去了最光彩的一刻。這種感覺就像她和我們國家的勝利時刻被剝奪了，多倒楣！」

地產大亨川普也留言：「昨晚發生的事很悲哀，我六個月前賣掉環球小姐組織，不然不會發生這種事。」川普六月表示墨西哥非法移民是強暴犯，惹惱西語電視台Univision，因而拒絕轉播環球小姐選美，川普被迫賣掉他的所有權。

而其中共同的思考路線是什麼呢？

聽起來很新鮮，其實並沒有共同的思考路線！令人耳目一新的是，2015年的秋冬對於美學的走向並沒有一致的共識：本季所使用的方法與展現出的成果都相當繽紛多元，因為彩妝師是從各種不同的年代、態度與藝術技巧的融會中，汲取動力與時尚趨勢。

他們巧妙地運用對立矛盾的特質，尤其是強悍與柔軟（表現在態度、色彩、質地與技巧等方面），讓本季的彩妝更為鮮明、有活力、充滿創意，並且極端。

「本季的妝容表現很極端，非常陰沉而又明亮，」Terry Barber說明由黑暗失序與明亮浪漫所構成的極端彩妝事實，而其中的挑戰就在於，該如何在一種妝容中同時巧妙地處理剛硬、溫柔與美麗等元素。Lyne Desnoyers同意這個說法，「關於該如何打造妝容的主張很多；而現代性的重點就在於不會只依從一種造型」：經過好幾季以各種不同「自然」造型作為美妝的主流，在這一季，彩妝師正在重新思考與重新打造美妝經典。

Miss Universe 2014: National Costume Presentation

The 63rd Annual MISS UNIVERSE® Competition (January 2015) has been asking the fans to help them come up with the Best in National Costume winner. Five costumes emerged as the front runners as of the press time and they are:

Miss Argentina 2014 – Valentia Ferrer

1.) Miss Argentina – Valentia Ferrer’s lavish white costume complete. The gargantuan work of ark is complemented with angelic wings and feathers designed by Marcelo Pendola. The costume represents the Perito Moreno glacier found in the province of Santa Cruz accented with the southern seagull wings and subtle colors of the aurora borealis.

Miss Canada 2014 – Chanel Beckenlehner

2.) Miss Canada Chanel Beckenlehner’s hockey costume. It consists of all things hockey complete with a scoreboard that pays homage to her country’s most favorite game. Hockey is where the Canadians excel and is also the country’s national winter sport.

3.) Miss India 2014 – Noyonita Lodh

3.) Miss India Noyonita Lodh’s mind boggling traditional costume. The costume is complete with a beautiful headdres and a sexy top. The details are interesting and unmistakably Indian. The costume is definitely mesmerizing and why it would not be? It was designed by top fashion designer Neeta Lulla.

Miss Germany 2014 – Josefin Donat

4.) Miss Germany Josefin Donat’s the fall of Berlin Wall. This is an interesting costume that depicts a momentous occasion in Germany’s history. The images on the skirt took inspiration from the images sketched in the Berlin Wall – a physical form of the so-called Iron Curtain.

Miss Indonesia 2014 – Elvira Devinamira

5.) Miss Indonesia Elvira Devinamira’s homage to Borobudur. The famed Buddhist temple right in the heartland of Java is one of the architectural wonders of the world. The stupas and artworks were carefully copied and artistically transformed into the fabulous costume.

台灣M·A·C的愛滋關懷浪潮中從不缺席。截至目前為止，台灣M.A.C已募得2千萬2百萬元(共3萬6千支VIVA GLAM薇拉葛蘭唇膏，累積高度相當於6個台北101 )，藉由「薇拉葛蘭VIVA GLAM系列」100%捐贈的力量，M·A·C愛滋公益活動成為台灣最具代表性的公益盛事，實際援助台灣愛滋團體，如關愛之家、露德協會…等，讓HIV/AIDS朋友們擁有最直接的資源與協助。台灣M·A·C特別邀請華人音樂時尚天后 – 蕭亞軒 Elva 加入愛滋義工行列，捐贈台幣200萬元的款項捐贈予關愛之家，讓每一塊錢的愛心有效落實台灣M·A·C的關懷，終結資源缺乏與歧視的傷害。

第一次與M·A·C合作擔任公益大使的蕭亞軒，近來在外地真人選秀節目獻出評審處女作，即使空中飛人生活行程滿檔，仍二話不說為M·A·C世界愛滋日站台。蕭亞軒提到，「HIV/AIDS朋友們在漫長抗戰的過程，非常需要夥伴的陪伴。這是一條很艱辛的路，但千萬不能放棄！」而M·A·C積極地透過各種管道增加大眾對愛滋正確的認識，對於M·A·C這份對愛滋的關懷，蕭亞軒不忘幫所有朋友們打氣：「讓生命永遠不喪失希望，尋求幫助，讓人生重新設下方向和目標，其實你不是孤獨的！」

身為M·A·C世界愛滋日義工的蕭亞軒，除了無酬力挺關懷愛滋外，更發揮時尚影響力，她拿起手上的薇拉葛蘭VIVA GLAM公益唇膏分享：「大部分女生最在意氣色不好，用薇拉葛蘭VIVA GLAM公益唇膏，就可提升氣色和整體妝容。盡一份小小力量關懷愛滋病友，還可以畫美美的妝容，何樂而不為！」蕭亞軒更直接認購200支薇拉葛蘭VIVA GLAM唇膏，並將口紅轉贈給需要的團體，擴大愛滋關懷讓愛滋長。記者會上，蕭亞軒也提前準備了耶誕禮物給關愛之家的小朋友，與M·A·C共同點亮M·A·C耶誕樹，為今年台灣的世界愛滋日揭開序幕。

M.A.C首度跨界電影 偕金獎導演忠實呈現愛滋面貌

隨著 M∙A∙C 愛滋公益步入20周年的腳步，M∙A∙C 愛滋病基金會將愛滋關懷的觸角延伸至電影，並與金獎導演安德魯‧仁克斯 (Andrew Jenks) 合作拍攝愛滋紀錄片–「一切尚未結束」(It’s Not Over)，以全新手法呈現三個出生於千禧年的年輕人感染愛滋的故事，讓他們現身說法，洗刷愛滋病的汙名，修正錯誤訊息，讓大家正視與了解。導演走訪印度、南非及美國，以人性的角度看待問題，透過鏡頭看到他們如何在愛滋的陰影下過日子及周遭親人朋友的生活。
